Salary – £40,388 – £43,482
Contract – Fixed Term Appointment, ends March 2029 (with possibility of extension or permanency but no guarantee)

Job Summary
The Forest Resilience and Planning Manager will lead Yorkshire District’s forest planning work and drive the delivery of Forestry England’s Forest Resilience Strategy. The role will ensure full, up‑to‑date Forest Plan coverage, embed resilience and natural capital approaches into forest management, and balance timber production, nature recovery and public benefits.
Responsibilities
* Ensure full, up‑to‑date Forest Plan coverage and embed resilience and natural capital approaches into forest management while meeting UKFS and UKWAS standards.
* Develop and manage a small team of specialists and oversee delivery of high‑profile, Defra‑funded forest resilience projects.
* Provide strategic leadership, manage programmes and budgets, and help shape resilient, diverse forests for Yorkshire’s future.
Work Location
The post will initially be based at Forestry England’s Yorkshire Office in Pickering and will move to the Dalby Forest Office in autumn/winter 2027. Regular travel around Forestry England’s estate in Yorkshire will be required, with occasional trips outside Yorkshire for meetings and overnight stays.
