We are partnered with a forward-thinking business looking for a Head of AI. This role will be responsible for defining and executing the organisation’s AI strategy, turning strategic ambition into practical, high‑impact AI and data science solutions. Reporting to the Director of Data & AI, this role builds and leads a high-performing AI and Data Science function, working closely with senior business leaders to leverage shared capabilities and industry best practice.
Responsibilities
* Establish and execute an end‑to‑end AI strategy, ensuring alignment with core business objectives and overall organisational direction
* Convert strategic goals into a structured, prioritised AI roadmap with clear delivery milestones
* Recruit, lead, and grow a high-performing, cross‑functional AI and Data Science team spanning data science, engineering, and AI development
* Champion AI‑led innovation across customer, retail, digital, marketing, and security domains
* Oversee the end‑to‑end lifecycle of advanced analytics and AI solutions, delivering measurable commercial value and operational improvement
* Collaborate with Technology, Business Intelligence, and Data Governance teams to enable scalable infrastructure, strong data foundations, and proportionate governance controls
* Serve as the senior strategic AI partner to business leadership, ensuring solutions are effectively adopted and generate measurable outcomes
* Design and implement comprehensive AI governance, monitoring, and model lifecycle management frameworks
* Define and track a robust value measurement approach to evidence ROI and ensure effective return on AI investment
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in a relevant field (such as Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering), or equivalent professional experience
* Demonstrated success in shaping and executing AI or advanced analytics strategies within complex, multi‑faced organisations
* Established experience building, scaling, and leading high-performing AI, Data Science, or Advanced Analytics teams, including developing capability and driving performance excellence
* Deep knowledge of advanced analytical methodologies, including machine learning, generative AI/LLMs, intelligent automation, forecasting, optimisation, segmentation, and propensity modelling
* Practical experience deploying modern data science technologies (such as Python and SQL) in live, production‑grade environments
* Experience overseeing and partnering with external agencies, vendors, or strategic technology partners
