Overview
We\u2019re looking for a Graduate Design Manager to join our Construction team based in Sheffield. This is a permanent, full-time two-year graduate development programme leading to an assistant level role, with a starting salary from £30,000 per annum plus potential car allowance and progression to around £38k. Location: Sheffield with flexibility to travel across the region. Starting date: September 2026. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
What you will be responsible for
As a Graduate Design Manager, you will be guided through the Design Management process. You will gain experience in both Pre-Construction and Construction, developing technical knowledge, with focus on sustainability, BIM modelling, off-site manufacture techniques, and programming. Design Management is about enabling and coordinating the design process to achieve project outcomes, while managing design risk across the project lifecycle.
Day-to-day duties
* Assisting in the coordination and management of the design process for construction projects.
* Support to lead and provide a professional, comprehensive and sustainable design service for the customer and key partners/suppliers at all delivery stages.
* Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure design specifications are met.
* Assist with reviewing design information and contractor-designed portions at all RIBA stages; challenge elements of the brief and bring innovative, continuous improvement benefits to bid and delivery stages.
* Supporting development of design solutions aligned with project objectives, budget, and timeline.
* Identifying, recording and mitigating design and project risks and opportunities.
* Supporting the team to ensure pricing assumptions reflect the design development.
* Monitoring design progress and adjusting as necessary to meet project goals.

What we are looking for
* Graduates due in 2026 or recent graduates within the past three years.
* Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
* Good understanding of technical aspects of construction and knowledge of Building Regulations.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team and self-motivated with strong time management and prioritisation.
* Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
* Full Driving Licence.
