SEN Support Assistant
Location: Redbridge
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a secondary school seeking to appoint a committed and experienced SEN Support Assistant.
This role is central to the school’s inclusive practice, providing targeted support to students with special educational needs and disabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to ensure pupils are able to access learning, develop confidence, and make sustained progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with identified SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
* Support students within mainstream lessons to ensure access to the curriculum
* Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
* Liaise effectively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff
* Maintain accurate records of interventions and student progress
* Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Person Specification
The school is seeking a candidate who:
* Has experience working with children or young people with SEND
* Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience
* Has a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Is confident supporting students with behavioural or emotional needs
* Communicates effectively with both staff and students
* Is proactive, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
Experience within a secondary school or specialist setting is desirable but not essential for the right candidate with relevant transferable skills.
