General Operator - Wiring & Looming (Defence Manufacturing)
Our client, a long standing partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a hands on General Operator with experience in wire looming, cable assembly, and fine detail manufacturing to join a high integrity defence production environment.
This role is bench based, detail focused, and ideal for operators who enjoy precise wiring, crimping, soldering, and microscope work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Building and securing wire looms and cable harnesses using crimping, binding, and routing techniques
2. Carrying out fine wiring and fibre optic tasks through lope holes on the production line
3. Completing assembly tasks to detailed work instructions, drawings, and quality standards
4. Using hand tools, soldering irons, and magnification equipment for precision work
5. Recording and self certifying completed tasks in line with defined procedures
6. Working to strict ESD, quality, and health & safety standards
Your primary focus
7. Wire Looming & Cable Harness Assembly
8. Basic soldering and crimping
9. Microscope / magnified assembly work
Exposure to other areas (as required)
10. PEC / CCA Assembly
11. Micro electronics
12. Soldering Assembly
13. Plastics assembly activities
What do you need?:
14. Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
15. Experience in wiring, cable assembly, looming or electronic build
16. Confident reading diagrams, layouts, and work instructions
17. Comfortable working under a microscope for extended periods
18. Able to work independently and follow defined processes
19. Flexible to shift patterns
Desirable (not essential)
20. IPC 610 awareness or training
21. ESD training
22. Experience with crimping tools and fine soldering
23. Basic PC / Microsoft skills
