Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our dedicated team as an Independent Travel Trainer. In this rewarding role, you will empower young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (up to age 25) to become confident, independent travellers on their journeys to and from their educational setting. You will also work closely with families and other stakeholders, building strong relationships and championing the many benefits of independent travel. This role involves travelling across the borough and neighbouring counties to support young people and adults in reaching their destinations safely and on time. Working hours will be structured around school schedules, requiring early morning starts and some late afternoon finishes. The post includes both hybrid and lone working, and demands flexibility, independence, and a strong commitment to safeguarding. What we’re looking for: A degree-level qualification, or the ability to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills through relevant experience. Experience supporting adults, young people, or children with special educational needs. An understanding of the challenges faced by parents and carers in encouraging independent travel. Experience of building effective relationships with vulnerable and / or socially excluded young people, their families and other agencies. As an essential car user, you must be able to drive, have a valid driving licence and have a suitable vehicle available, however for disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required.
