Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a well-structured and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest to appoint a Pastoral Mentor to join the support team from September 2025.
The school is committed to creating a calm, safe, and engaging environment where all students are supported both academically and emotionally. The successful candidate will work across KS3 and KS4, supporting students who may be facing challenges with behaviour, attendance, or SEMH needs.
You'll be working closely with Heads of Year, SENCo, and the Safeguarding Team to help build a strong pastoral network and deliver consistent support to students who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day pastoral support for identified students across KS3 and KS4
* Deliver check-ins, mentoring, and early intervention strategies
* Support the reintegration of students following absence, exclusion or behavioural incidents
* Monitor behaviour, attendance and emotional wellbeing, escalating concerns where necessary
* Liaise with families, external professionals, and school staff to provide wraparound care
* Contribute to a culture of inclusion, accountability, and academic progress
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working in a pastoral, behaviour or SEMH support role within a school
* A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
* Understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour management
* Strong communication and organisation skills
* Background in youth work, mentoring, or inclusion is highly desirable
