The Role: Electrical Maintenance Shift Engineer (Shift Technician)
You’ll play a key role in the smooth, safe and efficient operation of a state‑of‑the‑art data center environment. You will ensure the reliability of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure through proactive maintenance, testing and real‑time issue resolution.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Driving safety, efficiency and high‑performance culture across the site
* Making sure all operations meet industry standards and statutory requirements
* Planning and delivering maintenance and repair tasks, including managing specialist subcontractors
* Responding to incidents, troubleshooting issues and providing on‑call support where required
* Keeping detailed records of all work completed, identifying improvements and implementing effective solutions
* Supporting and guiding more junior engineers, helping to build a strong and capable team
* Demonstrating advanced technical capability across electrical and mechanical systems
* Writing and reviewing operating procedures and assisting with critical maintenance/change planning
What You’ll Bring
* Experience in mission‑critical environments (data centres, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, banking, etc.)
* Technical training or education in Electrical, Mechanical or HVAC engineering
* Strong skills in maintaining systems such as:
o High & Low Voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators
o Chillers, CRAC/CRAH, cooling towers, pumps, pipework
o BMS systems for monitoring and control
* Preferably trained in electrical switching & isolation procedures
* Ability and willingness to work shifts in a 24/7 operation
* A proactive, customer‑focused mindset with great attention to detail
* Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
