Our team of children’s research nurses deliver world-class care to patients participating in clinical trials across our NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and North London Regional Research Delivery Network. Some of our recent successes include the Summit plc trial, to which the first two global patients were recruited in the CRF. The CRF has supported a BioMarin Pharmaceuticals sponsored clinical trial that has led to the clinical development and approval of a drug called VIMIZIM as a treatment for Morquio A syndrome. These successes demonstrate the importance of the research nurse contribution in continuing to deliver high quality and complex clinical studies for paediatric and rare diseases.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic individual to our research nurse post. Our team of nurses work across a range of specialties, including dermatology, endocrinology, nephrology, gastroenterology, metabolic, and neurology to name a few, and in partnership with the clinical specialty teams.
As a skilled member of the team you will be providing a high standard of holistic, family-centred clinical care to children and their families participating in research studies. With support from the Senior Research Nursing Team, you will support the co-ordination and implementation of a number of research programmes from a variety of different specialities. You will be involved in the recruitment of participants, facilitation of the consent process, administration of the clinical interventions required as part of the study ( IV drug infusions), observing and responding to side effects ( anaphylaxis), as well as liaising with drug companies and other study sponsors and ensuring the accurate collection and submission of data, in line with the study protocols and research regulations.
