About the Role
As an SEN Specialist Tutor, you will play a crucial role in delivering individualised tutoring in Maths or English, ensuring that lessons are inclusive and adapted to meet the unique needs of SEN students. This flexible role allows you to design and implement engaging lesson plans that support academic and personal growth, making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver one-to-one or small group tuition sessions in Maths or English, ensuring lessons are inclusive of SEN needs.
2. Adapt teaching strategies to address a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, creating a supportive and engaging environment.
3. Monitor and report on student progress to parents, guardians, or stakeholders, offering constructive feedback and strategies for improvement.
4. Foster confidence, resilience, and a love for learning in students through patience and encouragement.
5. Work collaboratively with families, schools, or other professionals involved in the student’s education to ensure a cohesive support plan.
Requirements
6. Minimum 2 years of experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
7. Experience tailoring lesson plans and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse SEN requirements.
8. Proven experience teaching or tutoring Maths or English at a primary or secondary level.
9. Right to work in the UK.
10. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
11. A genuine passion for working with SEN children, coupled with a nurturing and patient approach.
Desired Qualities
12. PGCE in a core subject (Maths, English, or Science).
13. SEN-specific qualification or relevant training.
14. QTS status.
15. Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt and innovate in challenging teaching environments.
