Senior Safeguarding and Student Welfare Officer
We are seeking a dedicated safeguarding professional to join our team as Senior Safeguarding and Student Welfare Officer. Acting as Deputy to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will help ensure the wellbeing, safety and inclusion of every student at the heart of school life.
Responsibilities
* Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in managing all aspects of safeguarding and child protection.
* Oversee records and triage concerns through the MyConcern platform, ensuring timely and appropriate action.
* Collaborate with pastoral staff, counsellors and house teams to provide joined-up support for students.
* Deliver safeguarding training and create updates/resources for staff and students.
* Promote positive mental health and wellbeing and contribute to initiatives that foster a safe environment.
* Liaise with external agencies, families and professionals to secure the best outcomes for young people.
* Provide guidance and reassurance to colleagues on safeguarding matters and maintain a culture of openness and trust.
Qualifications and skills
* Experience in safeguarding and child protection within an education setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire confidence in others.
* Empathy, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and with external partners.
* Commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding and student welfare.
Additional information
* Hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday during term time plus 2 weeks during non-term time (34.6 total working weeks).
* Salary: up to £45,000 per annum (inclusive of statutory holiday pay), dependent on skills and experience.
