Job Description
We are currently looking for an Aerospace Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and optimising manufacturing processes for our aerospace clients. They will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in our clients’ manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading the development, implementation, and optimisation of manufacturing processes for aerospace systems and components, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including design engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain management to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and product quality.
3. Provision of technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and manufacturing personnel, fostering a culture of innovation, learning, and excellence.
4. Conducting thorough analysis of manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimise production costs.
5. Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts for manufacturing-related issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary to ensure consistent product quality and reliability.
6. Driving the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and methodologies, such as additive manufacturing, automation, and digital manufacturing, to enhance competitiveness and capability.
7. Collaboration with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials, components, and equipment, negotiating contracts and resolving any technical issues that may arise.
8. Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in aerospace manufacturing, leveraging this knowledge to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications
Experience of implementing/ utilising Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies such as 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
Experience with Lean 6 Sigma and/or formal qualification Green / Black Belt.
Experience working with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
Experience of reviewing mechanical component technical drawings.
Appreciation/ knowledge of metallic machining principles and technologies.
