Multiple Head Lifeguard positions are available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department, Aquatics Division at Forest Park and Marine Park aquatics centers. Head Lifeguards will be responsible for ensuring the safety of facility guests by preventing and responding to emergencies and assisting in facility operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Must be at least 18 years of age or older by May 1, 2026
* Must have a valid Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain it before hiring date
* Must have two (2) years of lifeguarding experience.
* Must pass a preliminary tryout
* Must pass a drug test
The Head Lifeguard job responsibilities include:
* Monitors swimmers from the guard stand or poolside, enforcing safety rules and addressing rule violations as needed
* Coordinates lifeguard and pool attendants' rotations
* Performs emergency response and rescue procedures, including CPR and first aid, and documents all incidents, injuries, and assistance provided to patrons
* Conduct water testing and maintain accurate records of water quality and chemical levels
* Oversees cleanliness of the pool, deck, restrooms, and inspect equipment and surrounding areas to identify maintenance needs
* Provides training and guidance to lifeguards to ensure adherence to safety and operational standards
* Assists with or supervises special events, swim meets, and other facility activities
* Serves as assistant to the Pool Manager and assumes managerial responsibilities in their absence
* Supports staff in communicating rules and operational procedures to patrons
* Assist with in-service training and professional development sessions for lifeguards
* Performs other duties as assigned to support the safe and efficient operation of the aquatic facility
Working Conditions and Physical Demand
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
