Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Clinical Cancer Services team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The successful candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a passion for improving patient care through medicines management. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the postholder will play a key role in delivering a technician-led clinical pharmacy service for oncology and haematology patients. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic clinical environment, is confident in providing specialist advice, and is committed to ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient use of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT). The ideal candidate will be keen to develop their skills in electronic prescribing systems, contribute to service innovation, and support the delivery of high-quality cancer care across inpatient, outpatient, and homecare settings. Main duties of the job Deliver a technician-led clinical pharmacy service to oncology and haematology patients, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care. Provide specialist advice on Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) to clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff. Coordinate the safe, timely, and efficient supply of SACT and supportive medicines, working closely with aseptic and dispensary teams. Use electronic prescribing systems (e.g. Chemocare) to support medicines management processes. Monitor and manage high-cost oral SACT stock, ensuring effective procurement and minimising financial risk. Support the development and delivery of technician-led homecare services for patients receiving oral SACT. Contribute to financial monitoring, KPI reporting, and audit data collection. Provide pharmaceutical education and counselling to patients and clinical staff where appropriately trained. Lead training for new team members and wider pharmacy staff, maintaining robust documentation. Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for safe SACT prescribing and administration. Engage with cancer clinical trial documentation and dispensing processes where relevant. Represent the Pharmacy Cancer Services team at appropriate meetings. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services with Btec National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent WCPPE National Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician Qualification Desirable criteria Membership of relevant professional association Experience Essential criteria Working within a multidisciplinary team Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience. General dispensing Experience of patient-orientated medicines systems Aptitude and ability Essential Criteria Good interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to apply knowledge gained to the workplace Ability to manage own workload Ability to adapt to change and work alone and as part of a team Values Essential Criteria Well motivated, reliable and methodical Able to work on own initiative and as part of the team
