Role responsibilities
This role will provide essential support for Transport for Wales (TfW)’s business property needs, particularly those of the Commercial Property Team, they will take the legal lead on projects with a significant real estate element and manage any external real estate legal resource required to support such matters.
1. Support the Head of Legal and Insurance on larger, complex matters through coordinating external legal support and working independently whilst handling a varied casework of commercial property matters including; acquisitions, disposals, leases (including potentially long leases with Network Rail and other freehold owners), licenses and development work, to ensure business continuity and consistency.
2. Support managers and directors with real estate risk identification and mitigation as necessary by providing guidance and advice, acting as a subject matter expert to ensure TfW and its subsidiaries are well informed of risks.
3. Offer land law training to internal and external stakeholders through the delivery of workshops and seminars in order to build awareness of the impacts and interfaces with property matters and other parts of the business.
4. Instruct and build relationships with third party legal advisors in support of service quality and contract management through regular contact, both structured (review meetings, etc) and informal to ensure consistently high service delivery.
Who we’re looking for
5. A Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive or possess significant experience as a Legal Professional with demonstrable post qualification experience in real estate/commercial property/land law.
6. Both experienced and confident in making independent decisions whilst managing a caseload with minimal supervision, whilst providing high quality service in a busy environment.
7. Experience of analysing and applying legal principles and facts to derive technically sound advice and commercial strategies for complex matters.
8. Ability to problem solve and interrogate the law and factual data and information to identify the root cause(s) of problems, demonstrated through previous experience.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
