Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Kitchen Assistant/ Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. As a Kitchen Assistant/ Cook, you will be responsible for meal preparation, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering high-quality dishes that delight our customers. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our kitchen and contributing to an exceptional dining experience.
Duties
* Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and menu specifications.
* Assist in the planning and preparation of food items, ensuring freshness and quality.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
* Monitor stock levels of ingredients and report any shortages to management.
* Help train new kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
* Ensure all cooking equipment is maintained and cleaned properly after use.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Kitchen Assistant/ Cook or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or catering environment.
* Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining high standards.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation.
* A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes is highly desirable.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
