Job Description
We are looking for a Transport Team Leader to join our Telford site on a full-time permanent basis. A Transport Team Leader will supervise the Transport Operations Team and driver team, managing daily planning of company and third‑party resources, ensuring vehicles and drivers receive clear, precise instructions and are fully utilised.
Shift: 4 on 4 off, 6pm‑6am.
Salary: £32,780 per annum + £1,000 attendance bonus.
Key Duties
* Allocate drivers and vehicles to loads efficiently considering holidays, sickness, driving hours, and WTD regulations.
* Plan driver start times to meet dispatch KPIs.
* Communicate proactively with third‑party hauliers to ensure collection times are adhered to.
* Liaise with shunting operation covering pre‑loading and unloading.
* Maintain clear communication with drivers, providing accurate start times and load information.
* Ensure orders are dispatched and delivered in the right condition in line with customer specifications.
* Notify collection or delivery points of any delays.
* Ensure service levels are achieved in conjunction with other departments.
* Allocate equipment for maintenance/service intervals as instructed by the maintenance planner.
* Adhere to Health & Safety policy and report all incidents.
Qualifications
* Transport experience in an FMCG environment.
* Excellent communication skills to deliver accurate information.
* Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
* Team player, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Knowledge of tachograph, driving rules and regulations.
* CPC national licence desirable (not essential).
* Strong attention to detail.
* Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
* Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
