Senior Laboratory Assistant

Job Description
Under minimal supervision, assembles test setups for complex product assignments, records test data, conducts standardized tests, and assembles and disassembles products, materials and equipment.
Applies working knowledge of applicable test requirements and performs tests using general laboratory equipment. Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area. Operates a computer to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
Responsibilities
* Build and/or adapt unique test setup and equipment for complex tests using independent judgment.
* Examine test samples, read measuring instruments, and review test data with supervisor.
* Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
* Operate designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
* Receive instructions from and report data to supervisor and personnel in engineering and laboratory operations.
* Prepare data sheets and record observed or calculated test results. Assemble test data for appropriate distribution.
* Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
* Read and follow the UL Code of Conduct and physical and digital security practices.
* Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree and 1+ year of experience in laboratory, or
* GCSE / A-level equivalent education with 2+ years’ experience in UL laboratory.
* Previous experience as Intern / Lab Assistant in the SAR team (desirable).
* Effective communication skills and ability to interact with others.
* Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative.
* Desire to work in a team‑oriented environment.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability to incorporate computer skills into day‑to‑day testing.
