Overview
Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) – fixed term 12 months full time, commencing September 2026. The role involves academic studies at Buckingham New University and placement alongside a Practice Supervisor and Clinical Education Lead in school settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide public health related care and support safeguarding, emotional health, sexual health and physical health for school‑aged children.
* Assist schools in delivering personal, health and social education and in managing medical conditions within schools.
* Work with the 0‑19 team to support local work where needed for school‑aged children and young people.
* Collaborate with children, families, primary care, schools, statutory and voluntary services and partner agencies to facilitate health‑enhancing activities and improve health outcomes.
* Deliver services to children and families within schools and community settings.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Must be able to undertake the specialist qualification and complete both academic and placement components.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of public health roles in school settings.
* Willingness and ability to work in partnership with children, families, primary care and statutory and voluntary services.
* Evidence of strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
