Overview
Ward M1 is a medically optimised ward supporting older adults 74+, with a strong focus on safe care, dignity, deconditioning and discharge planning. We work closely as a multidisciplinary team to support our patients to maintain independence and achieve the best possible outcomes. M1 is a nurse‑led, 30‑beded unit. During winter pressures or Trust escalation, the ward may expand to 40 beds. We also provide overnight care for 1 or 2 dermatology patients (any age), usually nursed in side‑rooms. Dermatology retains full clinical responsibility for these patients.
All new colleagues can expect to receive a warm and friendly Wirral welcome from the very first time they make contact with us. We are described as “competent and caring staff” by our patients.
