The post holder will provide administrative support of Clinical Trials activity for the Cancer Research Team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. They will work closely with Research Nurses, Clinical Trials Support Officers, Clinical Trials Administrators, Study Investigators and the R&I Directorate to support the day to day administrative duties in a busy office environment.
Flexibility is essential to this role and this will be reciprocated by the Senior Research Nurse or Head of Research & Innovation.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a well-rounded individual, who is able to work effectively in a busy office environment. The role requires a high level of organisation, prioritising tasks, computer skills, communication at all levels of the organisation and the ability to work independently. The role also requires the individual to move supplies (collection/delivery) around the hospital site, using the equipment provided. Most importantly, confidentiality and patient safety is at the heart of everything we do in research.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To undertake general administrative duties and maintain electronic and paper filing systems as required in support of the team.
Responding to external and internal telephone queries from staff, patients and others and referring to appropriate person.
Collect / deliver investigation results and medications for review by the clinical team as required – collection from various departments around the hospital (e.g. Pathology, Pharmacy, Radiology, etc.)
Organising incoming and outgoing post, referring enquires to appropriate person if necessary.
Organising and collecting signatures and documents from doctors and other departments
Arrange meetings and book rooms on behalf of the research teams when requested to do so
Typing of letters or other correspondence using templates supplied by the Clinical Trials Units or Trust.
Anonymise confidential documents in preparation of sending to 3rd party source, using a combination of scanning documents and saving as a PDF.
Taking & recoding of meeting minutes.
Data Entry, with guidance from the Research Team.
Adhering to Trust and appropriate trial sponsor standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Assisting with annual trial document reviews and close-out of clinical trials ensuring all documents are present, leading to assisting with archiving.
Actively participating in the PDPR process as a reviewee.
Ensure office stationery stock is available at all times and reorder as required.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. ECDL Level 2 or equivalent office based experience
2. Numeracy and literacy skills
3. Administrative skills
Desirable criteria
4. A levels or GCSEs in English, Maths
5. Microsoft Office course evidence, Word, Excel, Outlook
Knowledge and Experience

6. Previous experience of working in a busy office environment.
