Position Summary
As a Quality Systems Engineer (QSE) you will be accountable for managing, maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring it’s always audit-ready, and supporting the business. The QSE will lead internal and external audits, pinpointing areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are followed through. The role involves working closely with Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality is upheld at every stage of manufacturing. DFS holds certifications including ISO9001, ATEX, MID, UL; the engineer will liaise with external notification bodies to ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation. The QSE will support customer audits and pursue any new certifications needed as per business needs.
Responsibilities
* Oversee effective implementation and improvement of the Quality Management System throughout the company
* Maintain the Quality Manual
* Ensure training and compliance to quality system procedures throughout the organization
* Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.) to ensure quality requirements are understood and met
* Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address quality system improvements aligned to company objectives
* Support risk management and change control activities
* Monitor and report on quality system metrics (e.g., nonconformities, audit findings, CAPA status)
* Maintain and execute the internal and external audit program
* Act as the main point of contact for all QMS topics within the Dundee factory
* Maintain accountability regarding the certifications across departments
* Maintain and monitor non-conformances with effective remedial, corrective, and preventive actions, escalating as required
* Collaborate with approval/certification bodies, wider business, and customers to interpret and define requirements
* Gain new certifications as needed by the business
* Identify training needs and action to ensure company-wide compliance
* Develop best practices around document control
* Perform root cause analysis and lead CAPA activities using 8D, 5 Why, A3
* Provide backup for other compliance, external/internal quality disciplines
* Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and regulatory changes
Essential Criteria
* Fluent English language, both verbal and written
* Proven experience of managing a Quality Management System
* ISO 9001 lead auditor training certification
* Strong practical knowledge of Quality standards including ISO9001
* Ability to deal with several projects at once
* Excellent problem-solving skills, and good knowledge Lean tools e.g. 5 WHY, ISHIKAWA, A3, 8D
* Good presentation skills, including common use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
