Building Control Surveyor – 23.5 hrs (Public Sector)
We are recruiting a Building Control Surveyor for a 23.5‑hour per week contract for 3 months with a possible extension. The role involves assessing plans, inspecting building work, and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and other legislation, contributing to service improvement, innovation, and partnership initiatives.
Remuneration
c£20.50 per hour, alongside holiday entitlement.
Responsibilities
* Carry out the range of duties and tasks associated with the administration, application, and enforcement of Building Regulations and related legislation.
* Plan and prioritise work programmes to meet specified time and performance targets.
* Keep abreast of all changes and amendments to Building Regulations and related legislation, investigating advances in new building techniques, systems, and materials.
* Participate in pre‑consultation services, consult, liaise and advise builders, developers, agents and the public on Building Regulatory and other technical matters.
* Participate in Project Teams for service development, continuous improvement initiatives and training of Building Control staff and others.
The Ideal Person
* A relevant building‑related third‑level qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 4, degree or equivalent) or corporate membership of an appropriate professional institute.
* Two years’ employment experience in building construction, current building techniques, practical application of Building Regulations, interpreting working drawings and specifications; or a minimum of four years’ experience if the qualification is not held.
* Corporate membership of an appropriate building‑related professional institute or association listed below: Chartered Association of Building Engineers; Institute of Structural Engineers; Royal Institute of British Architects; Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Building Surveying Division); Institution of Civil Engineers; Chartered Institute of Building.
* A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a car.
