Brief Description / About our route

The West Coast South route stretches from Crewe to London Euston, carrying millions of passengers and 10% of the UK’s freight each year. It covers the 1,000-mile West Coast Main Line, with 64 stations linking London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and key commuter hubs. As part of our North West & Central region—the busiest mixed-use railway in Europe—we serve 1.3 million passengers daily, move 700,000 tonnes of freight weekly, and manage 571 stations across major cities including Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow. We’re driving safe, reliable, and customer-focused services, while expanding capacity and championing diversity.
