Location: Hybrid (minimum 2 days in-office post-induction)
About the Role:
Leicester City Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Learning & Development Team as a Senior Practitioner for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is non-case holding and focuses on supporting the induction, training, and professional development of internationally recruited Social Workers and newly qualified staff, while contributing to service-wide learning and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver and support a 3-week induction for the new cohort of International Social Workers starting 27th April (in-person).
Provide ongoing mentoring, supervision, and development support, including 1:1 guidance, shadowing, and visits.
Develop and implement training programmes for international and newly qualified Social Workers, including AYSE workshops and bite-sized learning sessions.
Support service compliance and development, promoting evidence-based practice and high-quality social work services.
Track progress, identify development needs, and work with managers to ensure continuous workforce growth.Requirements:
Minimum 4 years frontline Social Work experience, including long-term practice in Children's Social Care.
Registered Social Worker with Social Work England (or equivalent).
Strong mentoring, training, and supervision skills; Practice Educator qualification not required.
Ability to work flexibly, including attending visits/meetings to support staff learning.
