IT Support Engineer
Hybrid (Office / Site-Based – Cambridgeshire & surrounding areas)

£40,000-£42,000 per annum depending on experience
Reporting to: Operations Director / Head of IT
The Role
My client, a contractor specialising in social housing, is seeking a proactive, hands‑on IT Support Engineer to take ownership of day‑to‑day IT operations.
This is a business‑critical role where IT performance directly impacts site operations, job delivery, and revenue. You’ll work closely with a third‑party IT provider, ensuring systems are reliable, issues are resolved quickly, and continuous improvements are delivered.
This is not a passive helpdesk role, you’ll take full ownership of IT outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1st & 2nd line support across office and field teams
* Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, devices, and field-based systems
* Build and manage devices via Intune / Entra
* Manage users, permissions, and device lifecycle
* Own and drive IT issues through to resolution
* Coordinate and hold third‑party IT providers accountable
* Support networks, connectivity, and site setups
* Maintain security, compliance, and access controls
* Monitor IT performance and manage SLAs
* Identify recurring issues and implement long‑term fixes
* Maintain clear documentation and improve internal knowledge
* Support stakeholders with clear, practical communication
Key Requirements
Essential
* Experience in 1st / 2nd line IT support
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra (Azure AD), and Intune
* Experience supporting remote users and multiple locations
* Strong troubleshooting and prioritisation skills
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Experience with field service / job management systems
* Hybrid AD environments
* Basic PowerShell scripting
* Network setup and troubleshooting
* Exposure to endpoint and email security tools
