Job summary: This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative, self-motivated, compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapy Service.
Situated just outside of Cardiff with excellent road links, you will be based in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to palliative care patients within the Health Board.
With a wealth of learning and development opportunities, you will be able to consolidate and enhance your specialist Occupational Therapy and leadership and management skills.
As part of a close MDT, you will work together with your patients and their families to identify meaningful goals, provide assessments, identify appropriate interventions and enable them to remain in their home.
The post holder will carry an independent caseload of patients and deliver occupational therapy intervention to a high standard with the ethos of providing evidence-based, high-quality interventions.
Main duties of the job
As a versatile, self-motivated Occupational Therapist, you will demonstrate an understanding of complex manual handling and issues affecting people in the end stages of life.
You will need the ability and skills to work autonomously and alongside members of the team with excellent interpersonal skills.
You will have the organisational ability, flexible approach to the needs of the service and a commitment to work with Senior Occupational Therapists within the team to develop the service through evaluation of the evidence base, audit and quality improvement.
You will provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions to patients in the hospital and in the community to enable the person to remain in their home.
You will provide supervision and support to junior members of the team and student Occupational Therapists and have a passion for delivering evidence-based, quality intervention using research, audit and quality improvement projects.

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Knowledge:
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Registered member of HCPC
* Relevant postgraduate level training
* Documented evidence of CPD
Experience:
* Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical areas
* Understanding the OT process with particular emphasis on physical conditions and palliative care
* Supervision of staff
* Understanding the current best practice in OT with designated client group
* Knowledge of the principle of clinical governance
Aptitude and Abilities:
* Ability to work single-handedly with individuals or groups
* Organisational, planning and time management skills
* Demonstrable clinical reasoning skills, and able to make effective clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases
* Knowledge of broad range of medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions
