Role Overview:
We are looking for a Data Centre Technician to support data centre build and expansion projects. The role is hands-on and focused on preparing and installing critical IT hardware, cabling, and connectivity to ensure smooth deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out rack and stack activities, including safely moving, positioning, and securing servers and storage equipment into data centre racks according to deployment standards.
* Perform pre-cabling work, ensuring racks are properly prepared with the correct power, fibre, and copper connections before hardware installation.
* Complete patching tasks, including connecting servers and network equipment with structured cabling, labelling connections clearly, and ensuring cabling is neat, organised, and compliant with data centre standards.
* Check that all installed hardware and cabling is secure, tested, and ready for configuration by engineering teams.
* Follow build documentation, deployment checklists, and ticketing processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment, complying with all data centre security and health and safety requirements.
Requirements:
* Experience in data centre operations, hardware installation, or structured cabling.
* Skilled in rack and stack procedures, including handling of servers, storage, and networking equipment.
* Knowledge of structured cabling systems (fibre and copper) and patching standards.
* Strong attention to detail with an organised approach to labelling and documentation.
* Flexible and able to work in fast-paced environments with strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Technical certifications (CompTIA, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent).
* Experience working in hyperscale data centres, telecoms, or other relevant technical environments.
