Job Description
We're looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic / Fleet Technician to maintain and repair a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, trucks, and specialist emergency vehicles. This is a hands-on role covering inspections, servicing, diagnostics, and roadside support.
Responsibilities
1. Service and repair HGVs, LGVs, trucks, and specialist vehicles
2. Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic faults
3. Carry out PSV/MOT inspections and certify roadworthiness
4. Undertake welding, fabrication, and bodywork repairs
5. Provide emergency roadside assistance on a standby rota
6. Keep accurate records using fleet management systems
Requirements
7. Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Repair & Maintenance (or equivalent)
8. Minimum 2 years' experience as a HGV Mechanic / Fleet Technician / Commercial Vehicle Mechanic
9. Strong background in heavy vehicle and light commercial repairs
10. UK Category C licence
11. IT-literate and confident with diagnostic tools
12. Willing to join an on-call rota
Desirable: welding certificates, forklift licence, LOLER certification, experience with hydraulics.
