Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Location: 29-31 Montgomery Street, Belfast
Campaign Service/Cause: Volunteering
Remuneration: £25,476 - £27,919 Pro-rata
Overall Purpose of Post
The Volunteer Engagement Co-ordinator is responsible for volunteer retention and coordination across the organisation. The role ensures adherence to our data management strategy, effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes. The postholder will facilitate volunteer recruitment, induction, and support, contributing to service development and promoting good practice in service delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance, working closely with Service Leads & SMT.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Co-ordination
* Refine volunteer recruitment strategies to meet organisational needs and support all departments.
* Oversee and maintain the volunteer database.
* Maintain an inventory of volunteer needs, skills, and project matchings.
* Process Access NI checks for relevant volunteers.
* Ensure roles, induction, training, and evaluation are current and relevant.
* Organise and deliver training in partnership with Service Leads.
* Develop new volunteer initiatives.
* Promote the service locally and to the wider community.
* Build and maintain links with other agencies.
* Implement activities to promote volunteer retention and recognition.
* Maintain communication with volunteers and report on activities and impact.
* Stay updated on best practices in volunteer management.
* Support policy reviews and ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
* Develop and support monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.
* Assist in developing case studies to capture volunteer experiences.
* Coordinate and disseminate satisfaction surveys.
* Align evaluation with funding requirements.
Quality Assurance and Development
* Support policy review and development.
* Maintain standards for volunteer management and recommend improvements.
* Promote diversity and inclusivity.
Data and Information Management
* Follow reporting mechanisms for data collection and management.
* Gather evidence to inform service provision and support fundraising.
* Ensure data compliance with GDPR.
External Relationships
* Build and develop stakeholder relationships.
* Attend external meetings as Cancer Focus NI lead for volunteer engagement.
* Develop new partnerships with various sectors.
General
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Represent and promote Cancer Focus NI.
* Undertake additional duties as required.
Person Specification
Experience in delivering training, organising events, managing people or volunteers. Qualifications with relevant work experience and GCSEs in English and Maths. Skills include excellent communication, self-management, organisational, negotiation, IT proficiency, teamwork, and independence. Personal qualities include adaptability, empathy, and commitment to the organisation's values. Other requirements include flexibility, a valid driving license, and access to transport.
Desirable experience includes health and social care, community engagement, volunteer training development, and sector experience. Relevant qualifications are also desirable.
