An established international real estate group is launching a new in house architectural and BIM design studio in London to support a significant pipeline of high density urban regeneration and large scale mixed use developments.
As part of a major UK expansion, the business is seeking a Design Director to establish and lead the London studio. This is a founding leadership position for a senior architect who wants more than a traditional studio role. You will have the mandate, backing and capital to build a practice aligned directly with a live development and construction platform.
The Opportunity
You will take full responsibility for design leadership, technical quality and regulatory compliance across major London schemes typically ranging from £100m to £1bn GDV. Acting as Principal Architect, you will oversee professional standards, PI cover and ARB compliance while shaping the long term structure and culture of the studio.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design direction and technical delivery of large scale London residential and mixed use projects
* Oversee RIBA Stages 2 to 5 ensuring compliance with planning policy, Building Regulations and fire safety standards
* Establish QA processes, BIM protocols and studio governance
* Work closely with development and construction teams to align design with programme, cost and buildability
* Manage and grow a hybrid structure including London based leadership and BIM production teams
* Champion innovation across AI, automation and digital workflows
* Represent the studio in planning, consultant and stakeholder forums
About You
* ARB registered Architect with 10 plus years post qualification experience
* Strong track record delivering major London residential or mixed use schemes
* Technically strong within the UK regulatory framework including Part B
* Advanced Revit and BIM coordination capability
* Commercially aware, accountable and comfortable holding professional responsibility
* Entrepreneurial mindset with the ambition to build and scale a studio
Package
* Base salary up to £150,000
* Bonus up to 50 percent linked to performance
