About the role
As an Assistant Site Manager, you will play a key role in our Operational Team, supporting the Site Manager to safely deliver social housing and construction developments, upholding strict quality control measures, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements and carrying out site management tasks. We have a current opportunity at our Wallyford project in East Lothian.
Key roles and responsibilities include;
* Walk the site regularly to review and ensure quality, progress, safety, etc. Have at length discussions with subcontractors regards progress and performance.
* Produce snagging lists and ensure final sign off on all works for each build stage and liaise with the Clerk of Works throughout.
* Assist the Site Manager in appraising and managing the site staff and direct labour, as well as overseeing any agency workers contracted to the business.
* Work closely with your Site Manager on recording labour on site daily, and complete Weekly Labour Reports and send to Site Management each week.
* Complete operative and subcontractor inductions in line with SHEQ department procedures.
* Oversee subcontractors, tradespeople, and suppliers to maintain construction quality and efficiency.
* Review and approve contractor and supplier invoices and delivery notes.
* Liaise effectively with procurement and commercial teams to ensure appropriate financial management, including communication of procurement needs, delivery notes, invoices, call offs, site instructions and day works, etc.
* Produce regular internal and external reports on project progress against the programme.
* Work in partnership with our SHEQ team to promote and ensure a strong safety culture on site at all times.
* Monitor and record daily and weekly Health & Safety issues using company standard safety forms identified by the construction phase Health & Safety system. Carry out toolbox talks to all site teams/subcontractors and visitors.
* Use a range of IT systems including Work Wallet, MS Office packages, Project Commander, etc.

Your Skills and Experience
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Assistant Site Manager with a background in delivering Social Housing Projects. We are preferably seeking someone from a Joinery/trade background for this role due to the needs of our projects.
The ideal candidate will be/have;
* Trade background - i.e. Joinery and/or suitable academic qualification within the construction industry such as HNC, HND, Degree or relevant level of SVQ, equivalent to SCQF level 6-7, combined with several years relevant industry-related experience.
* Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents.
* Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, and safety standards in Scotland.
* Valid SMSTS (preferred; however, training can be provided).
* Valid Black/Manager’s CSCS card (preferred; however, training can be provided)
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Effective time management skills.
* Clear and effective communicator, in-person, via email and in meetings.
* Able to set clear objectives for themselves and others (in line with the needs of the role).
* Comfortable and confident in using standard IT systems.
* Hold a current and valid UK Driving licence.
