Service & Repair Engineer – Gates & Barriers
Location: Reading and surround areas
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Overtime + Benefits
A well-established and reputable security manufacturer specialising in the design, manufacture, installation, and servicing of large commercial gates for security and specialist sectors. The business is experiencing continued growth and is expanding its Southern Service Team.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Gates & Barriers Service Engineer to cover Reading and surrounding areas, forming part of a 6 - person Southern regional team.
This role is focused on the service, repair, maintenance, and fault-finding of automated gate systems installed by the company. You will be field based within your territory.
Key Responsibilities
* Service, repair, and maintain a wide range of automated gate and barrier systems, including: Sliding and hinged gates, Traffic barriers, Bollards and blockers, Control panels and associated safety systems
* Carry out fault diagnosis, identifying and replacing faulty components.
* Test systems to ensure they are safe, compliant, and operating correctly.
* Complete force testing (nine-point force test) and report any failures immediately.
* Install replacement components or carry out minor installation works when necessary.
* Maintain a right-first-time approach with full ownership of issues.
* Provide excellent customer service while representing the company on-site.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Proven experience working with automated gates, barriers, or similar security systems.
* Strong technical ability with experience in fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs.
* Comfortable working in a field-based, autonomous role.
* Good understanding of safety standards and compliance.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Customer-focused with a professional approach.
* Full UK driving licence (less than 6 points).
