About the Role
As a Graduate Process & Process Safety Engineer, you will join a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting the design and delivery of high‑pressure pipelines and associated process plant. These projects focus on the transportation of natural gas, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide, placing you at the forefront of the UK’s energy transition.
This role offers broad exposure to both process engineering and process safety, along with opportunities to develop project coordination, commercial awareness, and client engagement skills.
You will be expected to work to high engineering standards while delivering projects within agreed budgets and timescales, with ongoing support for your professional development.
You will receive day‑to‑day technical guidance and mentoring to support your progression towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.

Responsibilities
With support and mentorship from senior engineers, you will be involved in:
* Supporting projects from feasibility to detailed design stages
* Assisting with project coordination activities, including project planning, progress tracking, coordination with other disciplines and subcontractors
* Assisting with the preparation of project proposals and estimates
* Attending and contributing to client meetings in a professional setting
* Preparing and contributing to engineering deliverables in line with company, client, national and international standards
* Performing & supporting process engineering activities including hand and software‑based calculations, equipment sizing and specification, hydraulic modelling (AFT Arrow) and heat and mass balances
* Performing & supporting process safety activities including hazard identification, consequence modelling (DNV Phast), design risk assessments, and safety reviews
* Working in accordance with company, client and statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements, including attendance at operational and construction sites where required / could involve overnight stays (typically 1-2 days)
* Participating in project workshops and meetings such as design reviews and formal process safety assessments including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA
* Preparing technical reports, specifications and supporting documentation
* Supporting procurement activities including preparation of datasheets, documentation, tender evaluations, and contract administration
* Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal project teams
You will have
* A minimum 2:1 (Upper Second‑Class honours) bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering or another applicable engineering or scientific discipline accredited by a relevant UK institution (e.g. IChemE).
* The ability to apply engineering principles to practical problems and clearly explain assumptions, methods, and results
* An interest in developing a career in process engineering and process safety within the UK energy sector
* A willingness to learn and work across both technical and project‑based activities
* An ambition to work towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
* A full UK driving licence
* The right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
Desirable (but not essential):
* Experience applying process engineering principles in an industrial or project‑based environment (for example through a year‑in‑industry, internships, or 1–2 years in a junior process, operations, or engineering role)
* Exposure to process safety studies, risk assessments, or consequence modelling
