Registered Nurse RN - Northeast Georgia Physicians Group NGPG - Resource Pool PRN Days at Northeast Georgia Health System. This role is part of the Urgent Care team and involves collaborative, patient- and family-centered care.
Job Summary
Works collaboratively as an active member of the inter-professional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care. Utilizes the nursing process to access, plan, implement and evaluate care for urgent care patients. Assesses patients' medical condition, evaluates changes in vital signs and other measurements, and administers treatment within the scope of practice. Uses evidence to guide clinical decisions and practice related to individual and population health. Considers safety, effectiveness, and fiscal accountability in planning and delivering care. Maintains broad knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and procedures. The Urgent Care Nurse complies with standards of practice, participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives, manages supplies and equipment, collaborates with the healthcare team in response to patient and family needs, and pursues ongoing professional development.
Minimum Job Qualifications
* Licensure or other certifications: Currently licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia. Current BLS certification required.

Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
* Assess the patient’s physical and emotional needs and provide appropriate care and intervention. Establish immediate plans in collaboration with the physician. Document nursing interventions and implement physician orders in a timely manner. Monitor potentially unstable patients and administer medications as ordered.
* Participate in emergency drills and demonstrate knowledge of dysrhythmias; obtain vitals and EKGs as appropriate; report abnormalities to the physician promptly.
* Perform telephone and in-person triage and manage symptoms appropriately.
* Recognize and document significant changes in the patient’s condition; prioritize problems for timely attention.
* Initiate and monitor IV infusions; monitor IV sites for signs of issues.
* Apply ECG monitoring; troubleshoot problems; monitor heart rate and rhythm for abnormalities.
* Use proper techniques for patient transfer and positioning to maintain safety and comfort.
* Review and act on test results (lab, x-ray, etc.); assist with medication management; evaluate care effectiveness.
* Communicate changes to the physician; organize patient care and prioritize tasks; serve as a clinical resource for non-licensed staff.
* Provide patient education upon discharge and document all procedures, medications, and responses in the EHR.
* Commit to ongoing professional growth; maintain skills checklists; participate in drills and required systems training; serve as a preceptor when needed.
* Prepare and administer medications safely; ensure correct documentation and that orders are obtained prior to treatment when not following written protocols.
* Adhere to infection control and safety practices; manage supplies; maintain records for equipment and room readiness; practice Universal Precautions and use PPE as required.
* Collect phlebotomy and other diagnostic samples as needed and coordinate care across the continuum when applicable.
* Report to work regularly and on time; maintain a neat, professional appearance and appropriate use of personal communications.
* Keep informed of organizational issues and check email for updates.
