The Primary Teacher Role
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Primary Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Portsmouth, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in KS2.
In this rewarding role, you will create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to each student's needs. Your expertise will help develop individualized learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills.
The School
The successful candidate will join an outstanding SEN school in Portsmouth for children with severe learning difficulties. The school caters to pupils aged 4-11 years, providing various indoor and outdoor environments to maximize learning and meet specific needs, fostering independence and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement personalized educational programs based on an adapted EYFS (play-based) curriculum.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.
* Foster a positive classroom atmosphere.
* Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as needed.
* Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and school.
* Lead and work with a support team within the classroom.
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD.
* Experience in primary education preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
