Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Cardiff, is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager for an initial 3 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £282.39/day (Inside IR35). This role will be predominantly remote with some travel to offices in Cardiff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the successful delivery of national projects of significant size, complexity and risk ensuring that national projects produce the required products, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
- Draft business cases with input from specialists as necessary, highlighting benefits, risks, costs and sustainability issues.
- Describe and confirm the project vision, scope and definition
- Drive the project(s) through lifecycles, including project initiation and project closure, transition to service
- Line-manage staff across project, allocating responsibilities and assigning packages of work, taking account of individual and team capabilities.
- Provide direction and guidance throughout all stages of the project.
- Complete resource plans to deliver the project.
- Identify and obtain any support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project.
- Lead the project to deliver agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints, ensuring project goals have been achieved.
- Develop and monitor project plans, ensuring they are consistent with the agreed project scope.
- Identify, assess and prioritise risk associated with the project, and implement responses to them. Identify and manage issues.
- Escalate risks and issues where appropriate
- Evaluate project progress and performance against objectives within the project plan to enable the project to achieve its goals
- Lead on the scoping of testing and pilots, reporting key findings.
- Ensure handover of all project deliverables in line with the objectives.
- Ensure that all end of project documentation is completed and approved by Project Board.
- To devise and implement communication plans in order to engage with all Stakeholders
- Work collaboratively to form and manage collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, communicating highly complex information relating to specific service changes, some of which is contentious where there are significant barriers to understanding or acceptance.
- Manage stakeholder communications, ensuring they are briefed, updated and their interests and requirements are identified and addressed.
- Brief the Programme Lead prior to Project Board meetings.
- Provide complex reports as required, including key operational data suitable for presentation to the Executive Programme Board, appropriate external bodies and key stakeholders.
- Summarise documents and analyse data from a range of sources to support the development of options and pathways and facilitate decision making.
- Prepare project stage documentation and exception plans.
- Preparing, gaining approval of, refining and updating business cases that justify the initiation and/or continuation of projects and/or programmes in terms of benefits, costs and risks
Essential Skills:
- Extensive healthcare/NHS experience of planning and managing projects with successful delivery within time and cost
- Relevant professional registration such as PRINCE2 Agile Registered Practitioner
- Knowledge gained through practical experience of working at this level, across the range of work procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects, e.g. PRINCE2 Agile
- Knowledge of resource allocation procedures
- Team management skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Project Stakeholders
- Track record of problem solving in a project management environment
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
