We have an opportunity for a Product Technologist to join the team at Cooneen Protection, Fivemiletown on a permanent basis. The successful person will be responsible for engaging in product development and mobilisation activities focusing on assessing and improving form, function and fit and the wearer trial process of product. Responsibilities Taking ownership for analysing and critiquing products, providing feedback and recommendations of changes to the Head of Design & Product Development and the Product Engineers. Organise and manage the in-house wearer trial process in line with company protocols or those stipulated by the customer within tender documents. Communicate with customers, external resources and testing institutes to arrange full system testing for design verification and qualification. Assess product for comfort and heat management and suggest suitable fabrics or concepts, when required. Distribute reports on product wearer trials and system testing for full design verification and conclude on findings. Provide the relevant team with recommendations to improve the form, fit and function. Assess product samples and provide guidance to Product Engineers on recommended seam construction and manufacturing techniques in order to maximise comfort for the wearer; durability; and efficiencies in the production process; Responsible for the amendment of patterns when changes are required following assessment. Review grading of product and test size range to qualify nested grade. Advise the in-house sample machinist team on construction methods to be used to maximise comfort and fit, taking a hands-on attitude. Collaborate with the Technical Design Co-ordinator to get features of the product tested to qualify wearability. Oversee and provide accurate information on zip lengths and placements for final design verification and to the mobilisation team for the creation of technical specifications, this includes elastic/ webbing length guides, placements for attachments etc. Liaise with the Mobilisation team to advise key manufacturing techniques needed for production set up. Requirements Essential: Proven track record of garment technology, preferably within a manufacturing setting. Experience of working with clothing products, pattern construction and digital pattern development. Experience and knowledge of computerized design or pattern packages, eg Gerber Accumark/ Optitex/Clo3D/Illustrator / Photoshop. Experienced in the use of MS office, particularly MS Word & Excel. Must have experience of customer liaisons and fit meetings Desirable: A degree/masters in fashion design or pattern/garment technology QC experience of garments & fabric. Understanding of quality checks and control of garments. Knowledge or experience of 3D scanning technology.
