Job Purpose: The Group Medical Director provides senior clinical leadership and governance oversight. The role ensures robust safeguarding, clinical governance, innovation, and regulatory compliance across all medical and community pathways. Key Responsibilities: Lead clinical governance, quality assurance, and service innovation existing and new specialties, working with specific specialty Leads (Group Clinical Directors). Act as the Named Safeguarding Lead, ensuring compliance with statutory safeguarding obligations and training requirements across the group, working with the wider Safeguarding team. Manage and provide clinical oversight for professional standards, clinical incidents, and harm assessments within the medical and community services. Provide expert clinical advice to operational and business development teams, especially regarding inclusion/exclusion criteria and clinical practice standards. Support clinical innovation and pathway improvements to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. Input into clinician professional standards reviews, recruitment, and onboarding processes in line with organisational policies. Accountabilities: Direct line management of Group Clinical Directors and employed clinicians within medical and community services. Accountable for clinical safety, governance compliance, and service effectiveness. Reports directly to the Group Chief Medical Officer. Essential Person Specification: GMC-registered clinician with extensive medical specialty experience (GP or relevant medical specialty). Extensive experience in clinical governance, safeguarding, and leadership roles. Demonstrated success in clinical innovation and service improvement initiatives. Experience managing complex clinical incidents, safeguarding cases, and regulatory compliance (CQC, GMC). Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills. Proven ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams and influence clinical practice. Desirable Person Specification: Experience working in a clinical leadership role within a private/independent CQC registered business. Prior experience working with NHS Trusts, commissioners, or independent healthcare providers. Postgraduate qualification in healthcare leadership or management. Experience leading clinical strategy development, innovation projects, or organisational growth initiatives.
