Job overview

In this role, you’ll be trusted to lead clinical programmes that improve patient care and service delivery across local health services.

You’ll work within the Integrated Nursing and Conditions Service, supporting the planning and delivery of programmes that make care safer, more effective and joined‑up. Working closely with clinical and non‑clinical colleagues, you’ll help turn ideas into real improvements for patients and communities.


Main duties of the job

What you’ll do:

* Lead and oversee clinical programmes from planning through to delivery
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support high‑quality care
* Monitor progress, outcomes and benefits, providing clear and timely reports
* Ensure programmes meet governance, quality and reporting requirements
* Maintain and review programme risks, escalating concerns where needed

What we’re looking for:

* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Experience supporting or leading projects or programmes in health or care
* Confidence working with a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical colleagues
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
* A values‑led approach focused on patient safety, quality and continuous improvement

Qualifications

* Educated to first Degree or significant experience as a manager in the NHS
* Registered General Nurse
* Master’s level degree or able to demonstrate this level of knowledge and experience
* Project Management Qualification
* Management Qualification


Knowledge

* Knowledge and experience of completing and actioning Project Briefs, Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), Project Implementation Plans, Highlight Reports, Exception Reports, Risk Logs, and Project Closure Reports
* Knowledge and experience of using and applying service improvement techniques e.g. Lean and patient flow, the productive series, pathway process redesign and PDSA cycles
* Proven ability to manage data and information effectively within a service improvement environment
* Excellent communication skills and evidence of ability to motivate, negotiate, train, coach and reassure in a difficult or uncertain environment
* User involvement, meetings management and facilitation
* Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks within competing deadlines
* Ability to listen to, question and challenge ideas when appropriate
* Ability to incorporate the sometimes-conflicting views of individual users and carers
* Ability to communicate with individuals and organisations to portray complex matters, ideas and issues for example in reports and presentations


Experience

* Substantial experience of facilitating and managing transformational change within and across organisations to deliver healthcare improvement
* Experience of effectively working in teams at both Project Management and Programme Management levels
* Experience of working with and influencing senior management and clinicians/technical or other professional staf
* Experience of managing and monitoring financial resources and delivering projects within budget
* Experience of problem solving and supporting others to develop this skill
