Job Description
As a key member of our Operations Management Team, you’ll be responsible for managing, planning, and administrating the daily operational/maintenance functions of the Plant/Shredding Facilities in the most cost effective and customer focused manner. Responsible for ensuring optimum levels of performance are achieved and sustained in accordance with regulations and health and safety procedures.
Our Shredding Facility Supervisor/Manager will focus on the effective use of onsite resources and staff – working towards set KPI targets and supporting the service teams.
Specifically, this will involve:
* Maintaining, monitoring, and repairing all machinery to ensure maximum efficiencies.
* Managing a team of Shredding Specialists
* Ensuring overtime costs are minimised and associated labour costs within the plant department are managed appropriately.
* Developing and implementing short and long-term plans for the plant department, while strategically implementing methods to achieve goals.
* Ensuring Site Health and Safety standards are prioritised and maintained at all times.
* Overseeing personnel training for all plant employees, including training on the operation of shredding equipment, baling, forklifts, and other types of equipment.
* Ensuring the plant meets British Security Industry Association standards by following Shred-it policies at all times.
* Controlling the flow of activity in the plant so team members / trucks can be provided service upon arrival.
* Managing customer service in the plant, demanding a high level of customer service at all times.
* Taking ownership of all compliance and safety training for the plant department and employees.
* Recruiting, training, and developing talent.
This is a hands-on people management role, where some mechanical knowledge is essential to ensure site machinery is running at optimal level and who can demonstrate:
* Proven decisive leadership qualities, first rate communication skills and a strong customer focus, coupled with a positive outlook and the ability to work independently.
* Working experience in employee relations, performance management, hiring, training and coaching.
* A good level of technical/Mechanical expertise, preferably within a similar material recycling facility or similar environment.
* Ability and willingness to service and undertake basic running repairs on site machinery.
* A good level of IT/PC Literacy, especially in relation to software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
