We are a 14‑bed Paediatric Critical Care Unit comprising 8 Paediatric Intensive Care beds and 6 Paediatric High Dependency beds, caring for children across a wide range of specialisms.
Role: Band 6 Deputy Sister – an experienced Paediatric Critical Care Nurse who will lead, deputise, and coordinate care on the unit.
Responsibilities
* Act as Deputy to the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse, taking charge of the unit and maintaining high standards of care and environment.
* Provide regular direct clinical care and support the implementation of clinical and non‑clinical governance.
* Support a cohort of Band 5 nurses, conduct yearly appraisals and ensure staff training is up to date.
* Lead a team and coordinate care in the absence of a Band 7 Sister.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nursing (RN), RSCN or RN Child qualified.
* Substantial experience as a Band 5 nurse in Paediatric Critical Care.
* Recognised critical care qualification and mentors & assessors qualification.
* Band 6 status or expected upon completion of the Paediatric Critical Care course.
Additional Requirements
Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Must demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to support a cohort of Band 5 nurses.
