The Architects Insurance Scheme (AIS) is appointing a retired or semi-retired architect to join a small Architectural Advisory Panel supporting the continued development of a professional indemnity insurance scheme built specifically for architectural practices.
About the Role
This is not a full-time position and not a sales role.
We are seeking an experienced architect to act in an advisory capacity, bringing practical, senior-level insight to help sense-check and guide the ongoing evolution of AIS.
You would join a small group of trusted advisors, acting as a professional reference point and sounding board as the scheme develops and matures.
Your contribution would include:
* Reviewing and sense-checking language and positioning from an architect’s perspective
* Sharing insight into the commercial and operational realities facing small-to-mid-sized practices
* Providing perspective on how practices approach risk, claims, and professional indemnity insurance
* Offering feedback on how AIS is perceived within the profession
* Contributing to discussions as the scheme progresses towards a future member-owned mutual
Engagement is expected to be light-touch, typically around 1–2 hours every few weeks, by arrangement.
Who This May Suit
This opportunity may particularly suit someone who:
* Is retired or approaching retirement from architectural practice
* Has held a senior role (partner, director, principal or equivalent)
* Has experience within a small to mid-sized practice and understands its commercial realities
* Enjoys contributing strategically without day-to-day operational responsibility
* Would value remaining connected to the profession in a meaningful way
Practical Details
Time commitment: Flexible, approximately 1–2 hours every few weeks
Location: UK-based (remote, with occasional meetings if appropriate)
Remuneration: Paid (to be agreed depending on involvement)
Start: Within the next couple of months
