Your new role
Working on the largest highways project in the region involving a new 10 mile dual carriageway, we are looking for a Highways & Streetworks Inspector to join the project team.
As Works Inspector you will be responsible for undertaking site inspections and will report to the Senior Quality Works Inspector. You will provide assurance to both the management team and the client that the delivery team and the supply chain are delivering the work in accordance with the specification and the design requirements. The first line of defence will be by the delivery of on-site coaching and training to the Delivery Team to help them understand the standard required. The second line will be by carrying out inspections of the Works. The role will involve working in a specific area of the project and providing support across multiple disciplines.
Key duties:
1. Ensure that quality is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works to achieve right first time.
2. Be proactive in preventing substandard work being produced by coaching and providing training, where applicable, to the Delivery and the supply chain.
3. Ensure that all quality documentation is in place and prestart checks have been carried out prior to themencement of the work.
4. Monitor the quality of materials via goods inwards inspections.
5. Check the works during progress and onpletion, on behalf of the contractor to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the specification and relevant design.
6. Ensure that inspections and tests are carried out in line with the inspection and test plans and the Safe System of Work (for controlling the works) and that all necessary documentation is produced in a timely manner.
7. Where works do notply with the requirements, ensure that Non-conformance Reports are produced, preventive action taken and that they are closed in a timely manner. Offer advice where applicable
8. Support the Quality teams in carrying out site surveillances.
9. Support the resolution of any quality related issues. Offer advice where applicable
10. Support the collation andpletion of project record packages including the coordination of thepletion of snagging and the closing out of DOWLS/ Punchlist items on an ongoing basis.
11. Raise and capture any Quality focused lessons learned andmunicate them to the Quality and Delivery Teams, including the Supply Chain
What you'll need to succeed
12. Bachelor degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
13. Relevant site supervisory or site engineering experience on civil engineering projects, preferably major highway schemes. Or Quality/ Works Inspector experience from a previous civil engineering project.
14. Highways experience and knowledge of highways specifications and standards
15. Experience of onsite inspections against an approved Detail Design and the generation of applicable assurance record
16. Relevant CSCS Card and Highways Passport
