Building Inspector (RBI) Region 8 (Offices in Fleet, Horsham and Chichester)
Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive site inspections and regulatory assessments, reviewing structural, architectural, and mechanical designs and building materials to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
* Supervise inspection activities and enforce regulatory compliance, acting as a Registered Building Inspector within your competency and supervising lower‑class RBIs and graduate trainees.
* Produce detailed compliance documentation, including inspection reports, compliance certificates, and regulatory approval documentation, while maintaining accurate records and providing Building Regulations consultancy advice where SOCOTEC is not acting as the Registered Building Control Approver.
Qualifications
* Professional qualification and regulatory registration at senior level: membership of RICS, CABE or equivalent (or equivalent experience), CPD requirements met, and registration as an RBI at an appropriate level (3G/3H).
* Excellent communication and client relationship management skills, with strong interpersonal abilities to work effectively with clients and deliver excellent client care across all interactions and project engagements.
* Self‑starting problem‑solver with technical expertise, able to work independently as well as part of large project teams, analyse complex issues, develop suitable solutions, implement these solutions effectively, and keep up to date with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
