Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its dynamic Data & Business Intelligence function. This is a pivotal role in a data-driven organisation, where high-quality, well-governed, and accessible data is central to strategic and operational decision-making.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising the organisation's data infrastructure and pipelines, enabling data-driven decision-making and innovation. You will work closely with data analysts and other IT teams to ensure data is collected, stored, and processed efficiently and reliably. You will also support Data Engineers to develop and perform their roles.
Responsibilities:
* Execute the organisation's data engineering strategy, aligned with overall business objectives and technology roadmaps.
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that integrate data from various sources, including operational systems, customer platforms, and external datasets
* Develop and enforce data quality standards, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data across systems.
* Work closely with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensuring data pipelines meet reporting and analysis needs
* Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines, warehouses, and platforms
* Participate in data engineering sprints, develop data pipelines, peer-review code.
About you:
* Significant experience in data engineering.
* Proven track record of partaking in complex data projects.
* Expertise in modern data technologies, such as Fabric or equivalent platforms.
* Hands-on experience with programming languages (e.g., Python) and data engineering tools (e.g. Synapse)
* Deep knowledge of data architecture, ETL processes, and database design.
* Strong understanding of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and data security best practices.
* Familiarity with data management frameworks and tools (e.g. data model and catalogs)
* Strong communication, and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication skills for collaboration with technical and business stakeholders
