Compensation: Up to $23/hour + 15% bonus | Hybrid after 90 days

Position Summary
The HR Specialist – Employment plays a key role in supporting Human Resources operations with a focus on onboarding, compliance, and employee engagement. This position ensures new hires have a seamless onboarding experience, facilitates, coordinates engagement opportunities, and helps strengthen the company’s employment brand. The role also supports compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws while delivering best-in-class customer service to all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws; conduct research on variances and keep HR operations aligned with regulatory changes.
* Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process, including I-9 and E-Verify, background check review, equipment coordination, and sessions.
* Deliver presentations and ensure all new hires are set up for success from day one.
* Collaborate with recruiting and HR team members to ensure accurate and timely communication with candidates and managers.
* Enter and validate new hire data in HRIS (UKG) with accuracy.
* Manage HR department inboxes and respond to routine questions promptly.
* Monitor background check status and secure approvals on exceptions when needed.
* Organize and lead employee engagement activities such as volunteer events, recognition programs, and cultural celebrations.
* Support the company’s employment brand, including monitoring social media reviews and strengthening internal/external reputation.
* Partner with HR Assistant to guide and support candidates during onboarding.
* Provide strong customer service to employees, managers, and candidates.
* Maintain confidentiality and comply with all information security policies.
* Assist with HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 1 year of HR experience required.
* High School diploma required; bachelor’s degree in HR or related field (or in progress).
* Strong customer service focus with excellent communication skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* HRIS experience; UKG experience a plus.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
* High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and process-oriented mindset.
* Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
