Line manager: Technical Assessment Team Manager
Salary: £27,500 per annum plus additional £6,000 car allowance
Location: South Wales area - Field based with travel (car owner essential)
Contract: 37.5 hours per week; permanent, full-time.

Quality Assessment Team
Our team is friendly, supportive, and field-based across the UK. You'll make a real difference by visiting homes to check installations from solar panels to heat pumps — and seeing the impact of your work every day. This role isn't about enforcing rules from a distance, it's hands-on, approachable, and focused on building trust. As an MCS ambassador, your professionalism, empathy, and communication skills will help raise industry standards and build confidence in renewable energy across the sector.
Who we're looking for
We are now targeting the South Wales area for hard-working, reliable people who take pride in doing a great job and want to represent MCS in homes across the UK. Attitude matters more than qualifications — if you're friendly, approachable, and confident talking to people from all walks of life, all whilst following a structured process, this role could be perfect for you. Specifically, we're looking for someone who:
* Lives in or close to the South Wales area
* Enjoys solving problems and spotting when something isn't right.
* Likes being out on the road, driving up to 4 hours per day (occasional overnight stays)
* Pays attention to detail and takes pride in doing a job properly.
* Is open to learning — we'll train you on the assessment side.
* Is friendly, fair, and professional as you will be representing the MCS brand
* Believes in renewable energy and doing things the right way.
We'll provide a full 5-week induction plan that includes some classroom style learning in our stylish office, shadowing another assessor in the field and ongoing mentoring to ensure you are fully confident before your let loose on your own
What you'll actually do day-to-day
As a Field Based Quality Checker, you'll spend most of your time out in the field, visiting real homes and checking renewable energy installations like solar panels, battery storage, and heat pumps. Here's what that looks like:
* Travel roughly up to 2 hours (each way) to pre-booked appointments in your region (occasional overnight stays if further afield).
* Carry out simple quality checks on renewable energy installations using clear checklists and guidance we'll provide.
* Take photos and record findings using our digital tools — no paperwork headaches.
* Spot any potential issues with installations and flag them so we can help installers put things right.
* Talk with homeowners in a friendly and professional way
* Be the face of MCS — representing our values, raising standards, and building trust in the industry.
* Work closely with colleagues in the Quality Assessment team to share what you see in the field and help improve guidance for installers.
* Follow health & safety procedures and use the protective equipment we provide to keep yourself and others safe.
* Stay connected with your team through calls, chats, and occasional office visits, even though you'll be based on the road most of the time.

Must have knowledge & requirements
* Awareness of MCS and its role in renewable energy
* Understanding of health & safety
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car (You'll need to add business insurance)
* Able to pass an enhanced DBS check – we can do the paperwork
Must have skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* People focused – able to build trust quickly with home owners
* Able to listen to and take feedback
* Able to follow checklists and record findings accurately
* Organised and able to balance fieldwork with reporting
* Willing to travel occasional overnight
* Open to learning and building technical knowledge on the job
Nice-to-have skills
* Trade or hands-on experience (EG plumbing, electrics, roofing, heating)
* Experience identifying faults or explaining technical information simply
* Previous inspection, auditing, or customer-facing experience
