We’re hiring: Reporter, SportBusiness Gameday
This summer SportBusiness is launching SportBusiness Gameday, a weekly newsletter covering how teams, clubs, franchises and federations around the world monetise their match days, events and stadia.
We’re looking for a talented early-career journalist to produce the newsletter – researching, writing and curating the content that will establish Gameday as an essential read for sports business professionals who work in the sector. The role has a six-month contract and is based in London.
Estimated game day revenues worldwide total over $50bn per year, and are growing. We plan to fill a gap in the market and round out our editorial offering by producing a free global newsletter on how clubs and franchises make money from game day.
Working closely with senior editorial leadership, you’ll be responsible for producing SportBusiness Gameday each week. That means writing in-depth feature analyses, curating the best content from across the web, and building a product that becomes a must-read for CCOs, commercial directors and revenue executives worldwide. You’ll report on everything from ticketing and dynamic pricing to stadium hospitality, F&B, fan experiences and non-gameday revenue. Your beat will span all sports and all markets.
What We’re Looking For:
A strong curiosity about the business of sport, with awareness of how clubs and franchises generate commercial revenue.
A particular interest in the live sports experience – ticketing, hospitality, fan engagement and the commercial infrastructure of gameday.
Someone with the journalistic nous to look beyond the press release, shape the conversation, and take the story forward.
A clear ambition to build a career in journalism, ideally in sports/business journalism or B2B media.
Exceptional writing and editing skills – accurate, rigorous, analytical, commercially literate, a degree of flair, with outstanding attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with senior executives as sources and contacts.
A second language is desirable.
What You’ll Get:
This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new product from the ground up at the world’s leading trade publication for the business of sport. You’ll gain hands-on experience in editorial production, data journalism and industry outreach, working alongside a highly experienced team with deep connections across global sport.
Application:
To apply, send your CV and a cover letter – including a pitch for a SportBusiness Gameday feature – to gameday@sportbusiness.com by April 7.
We are ONLY accepting applications by EMAIL.
