Job Title: Perinatal Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for progressive and innovative Mental Health Nurses (RMN) to join the Perinatal Mental Health Team within NHS Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. This is a Fife-wide service, and the successful candidates will initially be employed on a fixed-term contract until the end of September 2024, with further funding to be confirmed.
Role Overview
The Perinatal Mental Health Nurse will focus on prevention, detection, early intervention, care, and treatment of mental illnesses occurring during pregnancy or in the first postnatal year. They will also provide pre-conception advice for women at high risk of postpartum mental illness, assess and facilitate mother-infant relationships, and promote infant development amidst maternal mental health challenges. Acting as a Mental Health Liaison Nurse within the wider maternity service, the role requires strong partnership working and relationship building.
Key Responsibilities
1. Respond to a dynamic and demanding environment, delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care across a spectrum of mental health conditions.
2. Exercise initiative and autonomy in managing referrals and complex demands.
3. Provide educational support for peers, student nurses, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
Candidate Requirements
* Experienced RMNs with enhanced skills and knowledge in mental health care, preferably with significant Band 5 community or perinatal experience.
* Demonstrated team working, problem-solving, excellent communication, and commitment to professional development.
Additional Information
Applicants will receive comprehensive induction, mentorship, clinical supervision, and educational development. The service operates Monday to Friday during office hours.
Applicants must have or be eligible for membership in the PVG scheme, and external applicants must have a secondment agreement if currently employed within NHS.
